Fleet Broadband

Fleet Broadband is a maritime global Satellite Internet, Telephony and ISDN Network for ocean going vessels. The network was developed by INMARSAT and is comprised of three geosynchronous orbiting satellites that allow contiguous global coverage except for the poles.

The third, newest, and final inmost satellite was successfully and is currently online servicing North and South America. Currently the three satellites orbiting are repositioning so that only two satellites will be active until. On this date, all three satellites will be active in their final orbital locations.

The Fleet Broadband service was modeled after terrestrial Internet services where IP based traffic Internet Protocol dominated over ISDN and earlier communication protocols. Many corporations and IT departments are standardizing around IP traffic for data so it is assumed Immersed is filling that long term communications requirement.

The Fleet Broadband mast mounted antennas are domed in shape like many domed communications antennas on vessels today. Fleet Broadband antennas are quite small ranging from in diameter depending on the manufacturer.
