Computer programming

Computer programming often shortened to programming or coding is the process of writing, testing, debugging and maintaining the source code of computer programs. This source code is written in a programming language. The code may be a modification of an existing source or something completely new.

The purpose of programming is to create a program that exhibits a certain desired behavior customization. The process of writing source code often requires expertise in many different subjects, including knowledge of the application domain, specialized algorithms and formal logic.

There is an ongoing debate on the extent to which the writing of programs is an art, a craft or an engineering discipline. Good programming is generally considered to be the measured application of all three, with the goal of producing an efficient and evolvable software solution.

Portability: the range of computer hardware and operating system platforms on which the source code of a program can be and run. This depends on differences in the programming facilities provided by the different platforms, including hardware behavior of the hardware and operating system of the source code.

Globalization

The balance of economic efficiency and social equity is the ultimate debate in the field of employment relations. This happens as job losses in un-competitive industries outstrip job opportunities in new industries. Globalization has effected these issues by creating certain economic factors that disallow or allow various employment issues.

By meeting the needs of the employer; generating profits to establish and maintain economic efficiency; whilst maintaining a balance with the employee and creating social equity that benefits the worker so that he/she can fund and enjoy healthy living; proves to be a continuous revolving issue in westernized societies.

Economist Edward studies the effects of globalization and summarizes the four major points of concern that affect employment relations International competition, from the newly industrialized countries, will cause unemployment growth and increased wage disparity for unskilled workers in industrialized countries.

Economic liberalization will result in unemployment and wage inequality in developing countries. Workers will be forced to accept worsening wages and conditions, as a global labour market results in a race to the bottom. Increased international competition creates a pressure to reduce the wages and conditions of workers.

Salary calculator

A salary calculator is an online application that provides salary information to the user. The majority of websites offering salary information utilize a salary calculator function to present this data. The salary calculator will request a search term, city, and state or zip code as an input.

Then, present a list of job titles that most closely match your search terms. Once the user selects one of these job titles, the application will present the salary information typically in the form of a graph.A salary is a form of periodic payment from an employer to an employee, which may be specified in an employment contract.

It is contrasted with piece wages, where each job, hour or other unit is paid separately, rather than on a periodic basis. While there is no first pay stub for the first work-for-pay exchange would have required a human society advanced enough to have a barter system to allow work to be exchanged for goods or other work.

From the point of a view of running a business, salary can also be viewed as the cost of acquiring human resources for running operations, and is then termed personnel expense or salary expense. In accounting, salaries are recorded in payroll accounts.

BPO security

Information security has emerged as a significant concern for banks, mobile phone companies and other businesses that use call centers or business process outsourcing. Theft of personal data has been reported from both US-based and India-based call centers. In one case, one of the alleged data he offered for sale was fake.

Britain's Financial Service Authority examined standards in India and the Banking Code Standards Board audited eight Indian call centers handling more than a million calls per month from the UK. The BCSB report stated that Customer data is subject to the same level of security as in the UK.

India's NASSCOM has said that they take breach in security extremely seriously and will assist the police in their probe. High risk and more complex processes are subject to higher levels of scrutiny than similar activities onshore. Prohibiting paper, pens and digital recording devices from being brought onto the floor.

Creating a paperless environment, preventing employees from writing down and removing information by ensuring that all work processes are done on the computer, without having to record anything on forms or notes. Prohibiting the use of cell phones and cameras on the floor.

Self-employment

Self-employment is where a person works for themselves rather than someone else or a company that they do not own. To be self-employed, an individual is normally highly skilled in a trade or has a niche product or service for their local community Travel etc., can be deducted as legitimate business expenses.

With the creation of the Internet the ability for an individual to become self-employed has increased dramatically. The amount of money spent on self-help, self-improvement and training materials has reached the billions in the past decade, uniforms, computer equipment, cell phones,.

Self-employed people can also be referred to as a person who works for himself/herself instead of an employer, but drawing income from a trade or business that they operate personally. Self-employed persons are sometimes eligible for more deductions than an ordinary employee.

To be self-employed is not the same as being a business owner: A business owner is not required to be hands-on with the day-to-day operations of his or her company, while a self-employed person has to utilize a very hands-on approach in order to survive.

Business software

Business software is generally any software program that helps a business increase productivity or measure their productivity. The term covers a large variation of uses within the business environment, and can be categorized by using a small, medium and large matrix.

The small business market generally consists of home accounting software, and office suites such as Microsoft Office and Open Office. These applications are extensive in scope, and often come with modules that either add native functions, or incorporate the functionality of t.org.

The medium size, or SME, has a broader range of software applications, ranging from accounting, groupware, customer relationship management, human resources software, outsourcing relationship management, loan origination software, shopping cart software, field service software, and other productivity enhancing applications.

The last segment covers enterprise level software applications, such as those in the fields of enterprise resource planning, enterprise content management, business process management and product lifecycle management. Third-party software programs.

Indian Post and Finance Service

The Indian Post & Telecommunication Accounts and Finance Service is a Group A Central Civil service of the Union of India. The officers are recruited through the Civil Services Examination organized by the Union Public Service Commission.

The service was started in the for prudent and professional management of the finances of the Department of Posts and Department of Telecom which were the sole provider of the communications needs of the country at that time. Gradually, over time the service has crystallized into a professional cadre of officers.

In the Department of Telecommunications the officers are posted at DOT Headquarters as Adviser. In field units the officers are posted as Controller Communication Accounts which is involved in the settlement of pension cases of BSNL Employees, maintaining General Provident Fund accounts of BSNL.

Employees, collection of License fees and Spectrum Charges from BSNL, MTNL and other service providers and for checking and disbursing claims received under the Universal Service Obligation fund. In the Department of Telecommunications the officers are posted at DOT Headquarters ADG.

Firing

Firing is the act by an employer of terminating employment. Though such a decision can be made by an employer for a variety of reasons, ranging from an economic downturn to performance-related problems on the part of the employee, being fired has a strong stigma in many cultures.

To be fired, as opposed to quitting voluntarily or being laid off, is often perceived as being the employee's fault, and is therefore considered to be disgraceful and a sign of failure. Finding new employment may often be difficult after being fired, particularly if there is a history of being fired from previous jobs.

If the reason for firing is for some serious infraction, or the employee did not hold the job very long. Job seekers will often not mention jobs that they were fired from on their resumes; accordingly, unexplained gaps in employment are often regarded as a red flag.

There are many reasons why an employer may fire an employee. While many view firing as the employee's failure, firing in some cases can be the result of the employer seeing a lack of value in the employee, or the ease in replacing the employee, whereas there is no fault to the employee.

Business process outsourcing

The business process outsourcing industry in India refers to the Services Outsourcing Industry in India, catering mainly to Western operations of MNCs Multinational Corporations. American financial meltdown has begun to take its toll on India's IT and outsourcing business.

Booming India Inc has led to skyrocketing real estate and infrastructure costs. Increasing infrastructure costs, real estate costs, and salaries have raised BPO costs significantly and as a result Indian BPOs in Tier-1 cities are looking at Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities for operation.

Few entrepreneurs who had a vision of bringing the rural India into the mainstream of knowledge economy have found an opportunity here - setting Rural BPOs. The related Industry dependent on this are Catering, BPO training and recruitment, transport vendors.

The transformation of rural India started with the emergence of these Rural BPOs. The major hurdles that these BPOs faced are quality man power. As a result these rural BPOs have remained targeting low end jobs like data entry home pick up and drops for night shifts being the norm in the industry.

Unemployment

Unemployment occurs when a person is available to work and seeking work but currently without work. The prevalence of unemployment is usually measured using the unemployment rate, which is defined as the percentage of those in the labor force who are unemployed.

The unemployment rate is also used in economic studies and economic indices Conference Board's Index of Leading Indicators as a measure of the state of the macroeconomics. Most economic schools of thought agree that the cause of involuntary unemployment is that wages are above the market clearing rate.

However, there are disagreements as to why this would be the case: the economists argue that in a downturn, wages stay high because they are naturally sticky, wages and union activity keep them high. Keynesian economics emphasizes unemployment resulting from insufficient effective demand for goods and services.

Others point to structural problems, inefficiencies, inherent in labor markets structural unemployment. Classical or neoclassical economics tends to reject these explanations, and focuses more on rigidities imposed on the labor and other regulations that may discourage the hiring of workers classical unemployment.

The Train Job

The Train Job is the second episode of US science-fiction television series Firefly created by Joss Weldon, although it was the first to be shown. The pilot, Serenity, was not shown until nine other episodes had been aired. According to the DVD commentary, Weldon and Tim Miner had only two days to write the script.

The crew of Serenity takes on a train heist commissioned by a sinister crime lord. The cargo they are after, however, is worth more than they know, Mal knocks out the Fed before he sees what's happening, and then Mal and Zoe use the smoke as cover to re-enter.

When Mal and Zoe board the train, they discover that an entire regiment of Alliance troops are also aboard. Mal reasons that because the Feds are showing no interest in the cargo, they can not only pull off the job as planned but make the hated Alliance look all manner of stupid in the process, however Zoe is hesitant.

After they break into the locked train car and secure the cargo, Jayne is lowered on a winch from Serenity. While they attach the cargo to the winch, however, a curious Fed trips a smoke trap at the car door. In the resulting melee, a wounded Jayne is hoisted back to the ship the passenger car.

Virtual project management

Project Management is a complex and challenging task that strives for solutions and deliverables within time and budget. Virtual Project Management is an even more daunting task. PM is the discipline of planning, organizing and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives.

VPM is attempting the same, except all project team members are not physically in a single location, possibly spanning different states and/or countries. VPM is the art of bringing together many diverse people to work towards a common shared goal and come together as knowledge workers.

One can look at VPM as a new dimension of project management, in that it is a new way to manage projects that was influenced by the rise of the internet collaborative software tools that are used to facilitate projects. Project members can now be organizationally disbursed across the globe to complete the tasks.

VPM has unique challenges. Since team members are often scattered in different locations around the world, they have different schedules, cultures and expectations. Managing a virtual team makes it difficult to micro manage which is a traditional concept in project management.

Customer satisfaction

Customer satisfaction, a business term, is a measure of how products and services supplied by a company meet or surpass customer expectation. It is seen as a key performance indicator within business and is part of the four perspectives of a Balanced Scorecard will vary from person to person.

In a competitive marketplace where businesses compete for customers, customer satisfaction is seen as a key differentiator and increasingly has become a key element of business strategy. There is a substantial body of empirical literature that establishes the benefits of customer satisfaction for firms.

Organizations are increasingly interested in retaining existing customers while targeting non-customers measuring customer satisfaction provides an indication of how successful the organization is at providing products and/or services to the marketplace. The level of satisfaction can also vary organization's products.

Customer satisfaction is an ambiguous and abstract concept and the actual manifestation of the state of satisfaction and product/service to product/service. The state of satisfaction depends on a number of both psychological and physical variables which correlate with satisfaction behaviors such as return and recommend rate.

Application for employment

An application for employment, job application, or application form is a form or collection of forms that an individual seeking employment, called an applicant, must fill out as part of the process of informing an employer of the applicant's availability and desire to be persuading the employer to offer the applicant employment.

From the employer's perspective, the application serves a number of purposes. These vary depending on the nature of the job and the preferences of the person responsible for hiring, as each organization should have an application form that reflects its own environment.

At a minimum, an application usually requires the applicant to provide information sufficient to demonstrate that he or she is legally permitted to be employed. The typical application also requires the applicant to provide information regarding relevant skills, education, and previous employment.

The application itself is a minor test of the applicant's literacy, penmanship, and communication skills - a careless job applicant might disqualify themselves with a poorly-filled out application. Application may also require any criminal record, and to provide information to conduct an appropriate background check.

Technology and society

Technology and society or technology and culture refers to the cyclical co-dependence, co-influence, co-production of technology and society upon the other technology upon culture, and vice-versa. There are an extraordinary number us that can be seen in society today. One great example is the mobile phone.

Ever since the invention of the telephone society was in need of a more portable device that they could use to talk to people. This high demand for a new product led to the invention of the mobile phone, which did, and still does, greatly influence society and the way people live their lives.

Now many people are accessible to talk to whoever they want no matter where any of the two people are. All these little changes in mobile phones, like Internet access, are further examples of the cycle of co-production of examples how science and technology has helped.

This synergistic relationship occurred from the dawn of humankind, with the invention of the simple and continues into modern technologies such as the printing press and computers. The academic discipline studying the impacts of technology, and society and vice versa is called Science and technology studies.

Political action

With the rise of the modern multi-national corporation, North American and European DIY culture has increasingly become a social and political ideology as well as a hobby and fashion aesthetic the modern DIY movement is viewed as a response on an individual scale to modern industrial society's reliance on mass-production.

In response to various large multi-national companies exploiting labor in developing countries, the DIY subculture has increasingly seen its choices as consumers motivated in part to not support such cruelty and abuse. This view of consuming less as political statement is not agreed upon in the subcultures it is found in its adherents.

A common sentiment expressed in DIY culture is to think globally, act locally, meaning that support of multinational corporations supports exploitative labor and environmental practices, so to purchase goods and services made locally in effect boycotts these organizations.

In addition, the making, recycling, or otherwise following a doctrine of "non consumption" as part of DIY subculture lessens the amount of sales taxes one pays, such taxes being viewed as similarly aiding such morally repugnant institutions as governments which wage war, but is a motivating force for many.

Do it yourself

In recent years, the term DIY has taken on a broader meaning that covers a wide range of skill sets.
he home improvement DIY scene we know today is actually a re-introduction often to city and suburb dwellers of the old pattern of personal involvement in home or apartment upkeep, or any material aspect of living.

Today, for example, DIY is associated with the international alternative and hardcore music scenes. Members of these subcultures strive to blur the lines between creator and consumer by constructing a social network that ties users and makers close together or the making of clothing, or maintaining of websites,.

There are various communities of media-makers that consider themselves DIY, for example the indy media network, pirate radio stations, and the Zane community cars, computers Our educational system, in its entirety, does nothing to give us any kind of material competence.

In other words, we don't learn how to cook, how to make love, or to do any of the absolutely fundamental things of life. The whole education that we get for our children in school is entirely in terms of abstractions. It trains you to be an insurance salesman or a bureaucrat, or some kind of cerebral character.

Organization development

Organization development is a planned, top-down, organization-wide effort to increase the organization's effectiveness and health. OD is achieved through interventions in the organization's processes, using behavioral science knowledge systematic process to implement effective change.

According to Warren Benes, OD is a complex strategy intended to change the beliefs, attitudes, values, and structure of organizations so that they can better adapt to new technologies, markets, and challenges. Is a particular kind of change process designed to bring about a particular kind of end result.

OD involves organizational reflection, system improvement, planning, and self-analysis Warner Burke emphasizes that OD is not just anything done to better an organization it is a growing field that is responsive. Organizational development is an ongoing, in an organization.

The term Organization Development is often used interchangeably with Organizational effectiveness, especially when used as the name of a department or a part of the Human Resources function within an organization. Organization Development to many new approaches including Positive Adult Development.

Dirty Jobs

Dirty Jobs is a program on the Discovery Channel in which host Mike Rowe is shown performing difficult, strange, disgusting, and/or messy occupational duties alongside the typical employees. The dirty job often includes cameraman Doug Glover and field producer Dave Barsky getting just as dirty as Rowe does.

Where Rowe tells the viewers that the show's continued existence depends on viewer submissions of suggestions for additional dirty jobs, and instructs them to go to the show's website for details on how to submit ideas. When Mike reads the very last piece of viewer mail in the viewer's choice episode to be an opera singer.

Each episode ends with a segment, usually shot at a previous dirty job, where Rowe tells the viewers that the show's continued existence depends on viewer submissions of suggestions for additional dirty jobs, and instructs them to go to the show's website for details on how to submit ideas.

An Applicant Tracking System is a software application that enables the electronic handling of recruitment needs. An ATS system can be implemented on an Enterprise or small business level, depending on the needs of the company.

Nearly all major corporations use some form of Applicant Tracking Systems to handle job applications and to manage resume data. A dedicated ATS system is not uncommon for recruitment specific needs. On the enterprise level to a Human Resources Suite or Human Resource Information System.

The ATS is expanding into Small and medium enterprises through Open Source or Software as a service offerings. ATS systems are very similar to Customer Relationship Management Systems, but are designed for recruitment tracking purposes it may be offered as a module or functional addition

The principal function of an ATS is to provide a central location and database for a company's recruitment efforts. ATS are built to better assist management of resumes and applicant information. Data is either collected from internal applications on the company website or is extracted from applicants on job boards.

Wage insurance

Wage insurance is a form of proposed insurance that would provide workers with compensation if they are forced to move to a job with a lower salary. The idea is usually proposed as a response to outsourcing and the effects of globalization to job displacement due to increasingly productive technology.

Economic consensus generally holds that in both cases—the integration of the global economy through free trade, on one hand, and greater technological efficiencies, on the other—the changes will have a net benefit across the world, although it could equally be proposed as a response.

However, economic theory also indicates that, while people over the aggregate will be better off, many individuals will not be able to keep their current job at their current wages. Those individuals may be able to retrain and move to more highly paid wages, and the reduced cost of goods may offset at least some of the wage loss.

These compensating effects are likely to take several years to come about, however, and some people might never be fully compensated by normal market mechanisms. Wage insurance would offer compensation in these situations technology e.g. factories, or computers.

Employment website

An employment website is a web site dealing specifically with employment or careers. Through a job website a prospective employee can locate and fill out a job application or submit resumes over the Internet for the advertised position to niche sites that serve various audiences, and industries.

Many employment websites are designed to allow employers to post job requirements for a position to be filled and are commonly known as job boards. Other employment sites offer employer reviews, career and job-search advice describe different job descriptions or employers.

It is reported that employment sites are in existence, the largest of which are represented by The International Association of Employment Web Sites, a trade association for the global online employment services industry. These sites range from broad all-purpose job boards.

Many employment websites encompass multiple fields of interest. Other employment websites, are geared toward specific industries. For example, Apparel Search has developed industry specific jobs sites for the clothing industry. Such employment sites are available for nearly every industry.

Memory card

A memory card or flash memory card is a solid-state electronic flash memory data storage device capable of storing digital contents. These are mainly used with digital cameras, handheld and Mobile computers, mobile phones, music players, digital cinematography cameras, video game consoles, and other electronics.

They offer high re-record-ability, power-free storage, small form factor, and rugged environmental specifications. There are also non-solid-state memory cards that do not use flash memory, and there are different types of flash memory game consoles, cell phones.

There are many different types of memory cards and jobs they are used for. Some common places include in digital cameras, , and industrial applications. PC card were among first commercial memory card formats but are now only mainly used in industrial applications and for I/O jobs , as a connection standard for devices.

Also a number of memory card formats smaller than PC Card came out, including Compact Flash, Smart Media, and Miniature Card. In other areas, tiny embedded memory cards were used in cell phones, game ads and Compact Flash had been very successful.

Talent Development

Talent Development, part of human resource development, is the process of changing an organization, its employees, its stakeholders, and groups of people within it, using planned and unplanned learning, in order to achieve and maintain a competitive advantage for the organization.

Roth well notes that the name may well be a term in search increasingly popular in of a meaning, like so much in management, and suggests that it be thought career development of as selective attention paid to the top of employees, either by potential or performance.

The term Talent Development is becoming increasingly popular in several organizations, as companies are now moving from the traditional term Training and Development. Talent Development encompasses a variety of components such as training, career development, career management, and organizational development, and training and development.

As we proceed through the more companies will begin to use more integrated terms such as Talent Development. Talent Development refers to an organization's ability to align strategic training and career opportunities for employees.

Computer operator

A role within IT, computer operators oversee the running of computer systems, ensuring that the machines are running and physically secured. The traditional role of a computer operator was to work with mainframes which required a great deal of management day-to-day.

Associate's degree similar to nuclear power plant operators and car mechanics, and are paid significantly less than system administrators, and traditionally used operating systems other than UNIX before the with far more rudimentary operations than a complex UNIX system. The computer operator works in a computer room now days known as data centers.

The employment of operators has greatly decreased due to modern technology making the more traditional roles obsolete. Most of the duties that operations staff undertake is taught on-the-job as the variety of roles is unique to the systems they help manage. Computer operator positions are distinct from system.

Logging events is also amongst the operators role, listing each backup that is run or things such as machine malfunctions. Operators assist System administrators and programmers in testing and debugging of new systems and programs prior to them becoming production environments.

Financial planner

A financial planner or personal financial planner is a practicing professional who helps people deal with various personal financial issues through proper planning, which includes but is not limited to these major areas: cash flow management, education planning, retirement planning and business succession planning.

In carrying out the planning function, he is guided by the financial planning process to create a financial plan; a detailed strategy tailored to a client's specific situation, for meeting a client's specific goals.

Personal financial planning is broadly defined as a process of determining an individual's financial goals, purposes in life and life's priorities, and after considering his resources, risk profile and current lifestyle, to detail a balanced and realistic plan to meet those goals.

The individual's goals are used as guideposts to map a course of action on 'what needs to be done' to reach those goals. Alongside the data gathering exercise, the purpose of each goal is determined to ensure that the goal is meaningful in the context of the individual's situation.

Application analyst

This may entail some programming, some system administration skills, and the ability to analyse a given problem, diagnose it and find its root cause, and then either solve it or pass the problem on to the relevant people if it does not lie within the application analyst's area of responsibility.

In the USA, an application analyst is someone whose job is to support a given application or applications. Typically an application analyst will be responsible for supporting bespoke applications programmed with a variety of programming languages and using a variety of database systems, middleware and the like.

It is a form of level line technical support. The role may or may not involve some customer contact but most often it involves getting some description of the problem from helpdesk, making a diagnosis and then either creating a fix or passing the problem on to someone who is responsible for the actual problem area.

In some companies, an application analyst is a would-be software architect. Logging events is also amongst thing such as machine malfunctions. Operators assist System administrators and programmers in testing and debugging of new systems and programs prior to them becoming production environments.

Game design

Game design is the process of designing the content and rules of a game. The term is also used to describe both the game design embodied in an actual game as well as documentation that describes such a design. All of the above have designs which make the clear and concise definition of video game design difficult.

The complex nature of video game development arises because of interdependencies between these design disciplines. Decisions made in one area tend to create constraints in others. For example, art specifications can conflict with technical constraints, or the design might appear coherent overall, but be impractical to build.

Many games have been developed primarily through iterative prototyping which, depending on the type of game, can be a more appropriate way of discovering new designs than theorizing on paper. In practice, some combination of forward planning and iterative design is used in the development of a game.

This was particularly true of early video games where the programmer was often also the designer and designs were much more constrained by technology, while at the same time new and ingenious programming techniques were being devised in parallel with the game design itself.

Construction

In the fields of architecture and civil engineering, construction is a process that consists of the building or assembling of infrastructure. Far from large scale construction is a feat of multitasking. Normally the job is managed by the project manager and supervised by the construction manager engineer or project architect.

For the successful execution of a project, effective planning is essential. Those involved with the design and execution of the infrastructure in question must consider the environmental impact of the job, the successful scheduling, availability of materials, logistics, and inconvenience to the public caused by construction delays.

Building construction is the process of adding structure to real property. The vast majority of building construction projects are small renovations, such as addition of a room, or renovation of a bathroom. Often, the owner of the property acts as laborer, paymaster, and design team for the entire project.

However, all building construction projects include some elements in common legal considerations. Many projects of varying sizes reach undesirable end results, such as structural collapse those with experience in the field make detailed plans and maintain careful oversight during the project to ensure a positive outcome.

Bruce Webster

Bruce Webster is an internationally recognized expert on information technology, as well as a software engineer, an entrepreneur and a former game programmer has provided analysis and documents given presentations at private conferences of a success industry analysis.

One of Webster's early achievements is the co-design and programming of the original Apple II version of the computer game Sundog: Frozen Legacy for FTL Games. The game was somewhat of a success and is still recognized today as one of the landmark games for early home computers.

Webster is the author of several books regarding programming and the programming process, articles on computer industry analysis and several white papers. He's been an invited speaker at several international IT conferences and is an experienced expert witness in IT matters.

In addition, he has given presentations at private conferences of the World Bank, the US intelligence community, and U.S. Congressional staff. Retirement community

A retirement community, or active adult community, is a very broad, generic term that covers many varieties of housing for retirees and seniors - especially designed or geared for people who no longer work, or restricted to those over a certain age. It differs from a retirement home which is a single building or small complex where no common areas for socializing exist.

Many retirement communities are planned for that purpose, and have special facilities catering to the needs and wants of retirees, including extensive amenities like clubhouses, swimming pools, arts and crafts, boating, trails, golf courses, active adult retail and on-site medical facilities.

Other facilities have no or very few common amenities. They might serve people of all income levels who got together to furnish cost-effective transportation services. And there are NORCs for relatively affluent households that may charge or even more in annual dues, and support paid and volunteer staffers who provide a rich variety of support services and cultural enrichment activities.

An example would be providing support and resources for those who do not want to leave their current neighborhoods. Another term may be used for a predominantly senior citizen community, in which residence is unrestricted by age and job affiliation be very effective mechanisms to identify populations of people.

Snowplow

A snowplow also spelled snow plow, snow plough or snow plough, see miscellaneous spelling differences is a vehicle, or a device intended for mounting on a vehicle, for removing snow and sometimes ice from outdoor surfaces, typically those serving transportation purposes.

In many cases, pickup trucks and tractors are outfitted with plows to fulfill this purpose. In areas that regularly receive large amounts of snow every year, and also in specific environments such as airfield, specifically snowplowing winter service certain height, snowplow operators vehicles are used.

Some regions that do not frequently see snow may use graders and other equipment to fulfill this task, but graders are nonetheless the best equipment to remove compacted snow and ice off the streets. Snowplows can also be mounted on rail cars to clear railway tracks.

A snowplow works by using a blade to push snow to the side or straight ahead, clearing it from a surface. Modern plows may include a great deal of technology to make the job and staying on the road—easier, such as Global Positioning System receivers, heads-up displays and infrared cameras.

Information technology

Information technology, as defined by the Information Technology Association of America , is the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware.

IT deals with the use of electronic computers and computer software to convert, store, protect, process, transmit, and securely retrieve information. Today, the term information technology has ballooned to encompass many aspects of computing and technology, and the term has become very recognizable.

The information technology umbrella can be quite large, covering many fields. IT professionals perform a variety of duties that range from installing applications to designing complex computer networks and information databases. When computer and communications technologies are combined InfoTech.

Information technology is a general term that describes any technology that helps to produce, manipulate, store, communicate, and/or disseminate information. Presumably, when speaking of Information it is noted that the use of computers and information are associated.

Urban planning

Urban, city, and town planning is the integration of the disciplines of land use planning and transport planning, to explore a very wide range of aspects of the built and social environments of urbanized municipalities and communities. Regional planning deals with a still larger environment, at a less detailed level.

Based upon the origins of urban planning from the Roman pre-dark ages era, the current discipline revisits the synergy of the disciplines of urban planning, architecture and landscape architecture, varying upon from the intellectual strategic positioning from university to university.

Another key role of urban planning is urban renewal and re-generation of inner cities by adapting urban planning methods to existing cities suffering from long-term infrastructural decay. However, most settlements and of forethought and conscious design in their layout and functioning.

The development of technology, particularly the discovery of agriculture, before the beginning of recorded history facilitated larger populations than the very small communities of the Paleolithic, and may have compelled the development of stronger, more coercive governments at the same time.

The pre-Classical and Classical ages saw a number of cities laid out according to fixed plans, though many tended to develop organically. Urban planning as an organized profession has existed for less than a century cities reflect various degrees.

Swamp Yankee

Swamp Yankee is a colloquialism that has a variety of meanings. Generally, it refers to Yankees or WASPs northeasterners with colonial ancestry from rural Rhode Island and nearby eastern Connecticut and southeastern Massachusetts swamp Yankee himself as society moves toward urban and suburban.

The term Yankee connotes urbane industriousness, while the term Swamp Yankee signifies a more countrified, stubborn, and independent and less refined subtype. The typical swamp Yankee can be found in an old, rural general store. Probably the best reason for its disappearance is the vanishing of the life.

Where in the evening four or five of the immediate countryside's swamp Yankees gather and tell stories for several hours. Such a gathering has been jocularly described as a lying contest. The term swamp Yankee is becoming less known and may be unknown in a few generations.

Probably the best reason for its disappearance is the vanishing of the swamp Yankee himself as society moves toward urban and suburban life. Swamp Yankees themselves react to the term with slight disapproval or indifference. The festival features traditional fare such as clam chowder and johnnycakes.

Airway Operational Support

As it happened, a contract employee had caused the several-day outage that resulted in thousands of delayed and cancelled flights, but the damage to the directorate's reputation was done. leaving the employees they had brought into the directorate without benefit of the massive pay increases conferred upon nearly all other.

FAA entirely eliminated the AOS directorate by moving employees and contractors to other, similar organizational groups while the employees continued doing the same work, at the same desks, in the same offices, under the same supervision as they had for the past twelve years.

While assuming responsibility for software field support, the directorate was in need of experienced personnel from the air traffic controller ranks to flesh out each local office. In order to entice these employees from their secure positions working air traffic many promises were made to the candidates, some in writing.

In later developments the FAA elected to ignore these promises; the written promises were challenged in Federal court; despite proof of such claims the plaintiffs were unsuccessful due to their status as employees at will. The FAA was able to slither out from under their written promises, FAA employees of identical job category.

Sea shanty

In the days when human muscles were the only power source available aboard ship, sea shanties served a practical purpose: the rhythm of the song served to synchronize the movements of the sailors as they toiled at repetitive tasks. They also served a social purpose: singing and listening to songs is pleasant days.

Most shanties are call and response songs, with one voice the shanty man singing the line and the chorus of sailors bellowing the response compares military cadence calls. it alleviates boredom and lightens the burden of hard work, of which there was no shortage on long voyages in those.

Working it as a short-drag or sheet chantey hands on the line would synchronize their pulls with the last syllable of each response. Musically, shanties seem to reflect a variety of sources. The shanty man was a sailor who led the others in singing. He was usually self-appointed.

A sailor would not generally sign on as a shanty man per se, but took on the role in addition to their other tasks on the ship. Nevertheless, sailors reputed to be good shanty men were valuable and respected. A song is as necessary to sailors as the drum and fife to a soldier.

Union busting

Workers have formed unions for a variety of reasons, but primarily, to improve wages, hours, and working conditions. Many employers may prefer to prevent unions from organizing because unionization can cause higher labor costs, reduce profits, and interfere with the operations of the organization.

Employers have historically sought help to counter union activity. Agencies assisting such efforts have included security and quasi-police groups such as Pinkertons and Baldwin-Felts, government resources such as military or national guard forces and, more recently, labor relations firms experienced in labor law.

Because employers and governments did little to address these issues, labor movements in the industrialized world were formed to seek better wages, hours, and working conditions. The clashes between labor and management were often adversarial and hostile and were deeply affected by wars, and court proceedings.

Union busting is a term used by trade unions and others to describe a wide range of activities undertaken by employers, their proxies, which hinder workers from joining and maintaining trade unions. While the right to join and form trade unions is recognized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights .

Sense switch

A sense switch or program switch, is a switch on the console of a computer whose state can be tested by conditional branch instructions in software. Most early computers had several sense switches. They were typically used by the operator to set program options.

These bit-switches were more normally used with the computer stopped to specify some memory address to be viewedvia the indicator lights on the console or to be loaded with some value via a second setting of the bit switches and much manipulation of the console.

Nevertheless their state could be determined by a suitable machine code routine arranged so as to be callable from a compiler language such as fortran, and so a running programme might modify its behavior amount of progress information printed, the tactics of a multi-variable optimization attempt, and so on.

With the introduction of personal computers where the user is once again in attendance of the computer instead of being walled off by a batch-job arrangement, the user would once again be able to adjust switches but alas there are no longer sense switches attached to the computer to adjust.

Glass cutter

The cutter, or in some cases the glass, is generously lubricated with light oil or paraffin. Then the cutter is pressed tightly against the glass and a line is scribed with the help of a ruler to form a split in the surface of the glass. This split is referred to as a score. A glass cutter is a hand tool which aids in the cutting of flat or sheet glass.

The score may then be widened by carefully tapping on the opposite side of the glass with a hard tool, but this reduces the smoothness of the broken edge. Finally, the glass is broken along the score. After breaking, the cut edge of the glass is usually polished to smooth the rough edges.

If the break deviates from the score, the lite can often be salvaged by snapping off the extra glass with a special pair of pliers or using the notches in the glass cutter. Glass thickness also affects the ability to cut and break glass. Generally, thicker glass is more difficult to cut and break.

Quarter inch plate glass requires considerable strength to break along the score. Extremely thin glass, for example inch glass, behaves differently and will often not follow the score, regardless of the glass cutter's expertise and strictly, the controlled breaking experience.

Rewrite man

The rewrite man is a newspaper reporter who works in the office, not on the street, taking information reported by others and crafting it into stories. It is rarely used as an actual title. The term rewrite man is something of a misnomer. Some are women, of course, and rewrite men do not just rewrite.

They take notes gathered by on-the-scene-reporters, information gathered by telephone, or from wire services or clippings from other newspapers, and write articles. Sometimes an entire front page, with bylines from several different reporters, will have actually been written by a single rewrite man working with an editor.

The job has lost much of its importance due to technology that allows reporters to write and transmit articles from the field. In the pre-computer days of newspaper work, however, it was vital. Rewrite men are common at large national magazines while a writer takes the material and writes the actual article.

People Magazine stories are written in this format, with field reporters doing the reporting and New York based writers writing the pieces. At the most extreme example, reporters on deadline would telephone into the newsroom and dictate their notes to an editor and shouting into the phone.

Digital literacy

Digital literacy is the ability to locate, organize, understand, evaluate, and create information using digital technology. It involves a working knowledge of current high-technology, and an understanding of how it can be used. These techniques are most effective when the teacher is digitally literate, as well.

Digitally literate people can communicate and work more efficiently, especially with those who possess the same knowledge and skills. Certifications are available to determine if a person is digitally literate.
This often includes computers in the classroom, the use of educational software to online.

Digital literacy encompasses computer hardware, software particularly those used most frequently by businesses, the Internet, cell phones, PDAs, and other digital devices. Official certification in digital literacy allows employees to validate their knowledge of digital media.

Certification curricula often change as technology advances, making it necessary for many to re-certify to remain competitive. Schools are continually updating their curriculum for digital literacy to keep up with accelerating technological developments. Some classrooms are designed and audience response systems.

Vocational education

Vocational education or Vocational Education and Training, also called Career and Technical Education, prepares learners for jobs that are based in manual or practical activities, traditionally non-academic and totally related to a specific trade, occupation or vocation, hence the term, in which the learner participates.

It is sometimes referred to as technical education, as the learner directly develops expertise in a particular group of techniques or technology. Generally, vocation and career are used interchangeably. Vocational education might be classified as teaching procedural knowledge.

This may be contrasted with declarative knowledge, as used in education in a usually broader scientific field, which might concentrate on theory and abstract conceptual knowledge, characteristic of tertiary education. Vocational education can be at the secondary or post-secondary level and can interact with the apprenticeship system.

Increasingly, vocational education can be recognized in terms of recognition of prior learning and partial academic credit towards tertiary, it is rarely considered in its own form to fall under the traditional definition of a higher education. Up until the end of the twentieth century, vocational education focused on specific trades classes.

Tab Works

Tab Works organizes files into tabs in a notebook-like interface. Microsoft did not like that Compaq was creating turnkey systems that overtook their user interface. A business team was assembled to produce the product initially for Compaq Computers who was given an exclusive worldwide license.

Since the release of Microsoft has become aware of instances in which OEMs are modifying the product as a method of differentiating their hardware. This has caused considerable confusion with our end user customers. NEC also had an arrangement with XSoft .

As a result, Microsoft is taking this opportunity to define the requirements and restrictions of the reinstallations process, so that all of our end users have a consistent experience with our products. The user interface concept was collaborated by IDEO and XSoft and desktop utility product lines.

Tab works was later acquired Computer systems who integrated it into their line of network security. The user interface concept was collaborated by IDEO and XSoft. The concept was taken from the Xerox Parc research labs and developed by Stuart Card.

Professional wrestling

Professional wrestling, or pro wrestling, is a non-competitive professional sport, where matches are prearranged by the promotion's booking staff, and is also considered an athletic performing art, containing strong elements of catch wrestling, mock combat and theatre. It has origins in carnival sideshows.

There are many different styles and approaches in presenting professional wrestling, varying from country to country and region to region, and often promotions specialize in a particular genre or style. In order to score by pitfall, a wrestler must pin both his shoulders against the mat while the referee slaps the mat three times.

This is the most common form of defeat. If a wrestler's shoulders are it is completely legal for the three counts to be made. Illegal pinning methods include using the ropes for leverage and hooking the opponent's clothing, which are therefore unless certain stipulations make such an advantage legal.

Occasionally, there are instances where a pinfall is made where both wrestlers' shoulders were on the mat for the three count. This situation will most likely lead to a draw, and in some cases a continuation of the match or a future match to determine the winner.

Hollywood Arts

Hollywood Arts is a full-service art center opened in Hollywood, California. The program is unique in that it is designed to give homeless, runaway and at-risk teenagers access to the arts both for art therapy and to teach job-readiness and life skills that will help them get off the streets and change their lives.

Their clients are and older and generally fall into one of several categories: victims of physical or sexual abuse; emancipated and at-risk foster care youth; children of homeless parents and/or members of the gay, lesbian, and transgender community who have been socially-rejected by family and peers.

The Hollywood Arts programming models gives teenagers a chance to attend Out-of-School classes classes offered to youth not in school during school hours in a variety of creative activities including digital training, urban arts painting and drawing screen-play writing, and ceramics in a format that is curriculum-based, dedicated and sequential.

This format also creates increased educational improvement by teaching life skills critical thinking and computer literacy. This format mirrors traditional school-based learning and gives the teenagers the necessary attention to create significant emotional transformations such as i self-esteem and self-confidence.

Technology evangelist

A technical or technology evangelist is a person who attempts to build a critical mass of support for a given technology in order to establish it as a technical standard in a market that is subject to network effects. The job is often closely related to both sales and from older methods to newer

Professional technology evangelists are often employed by firms which seek to establish their proprietary technologies as de facto standards or to participate in setting non-proprietary open standards. Non-professional technology evangelists may act out of altruism or self-interest.

Technical evangelists may act, officially or unofficially, on behalf of a company or organization, or on a personal basis, for instance open source evangelism. An evangelist promotes the use of a particular product or technology through talks, articles, blogging, demonstrations, or the creation of sample projects.

The word evangelism is taken from the context of religious evangelism because of the similar recruitment of converts and the spreading of the product information through the ideological or committed. Technology evangelism is sometimes associated assigned to encourage things within a large organization.

Reading Works

The Reading Works in Berks County, Pennsylvania, was a key player in manufacturing and delivering innovative integrated circuit and optoelectronic equipment for communication and computing in the United States and around the world. Job control

Job control in computing refers to the control of multiple tasks or Jobs on a computer system, ensuring that they each have access to adequate resources to perform correctly, that competition for limited resources does not cause a deadlock where two or more jobs are unable to complete, resolving such situations.

Job control has developed from the early days of computers where human operators were responsible for setting up, monitoring and controlling every job, to modern operating systems which take on the bulk of the work of job control where they terminating jobs that are not performing as expected.

Even with a highly sophisticated scheduling system, some human intervention is desirable. Modern systems permit their users to stop and resume jobs, to execute them in the foreground with the ability to interact with the user or in the background. See for instance for any reason, Job control.

It became obvious to the early computer developers that their fast machines spent most of the time idle because the single program they were executing had to wait while a slow peripheral device completed an essential writing data. This system of pre-emptive multitasking forms the basis of most modern job control systems.

Aerospace manufacturer

An aerospace manufacturer is a company or individual involved in the various aspects of designing, building, testing, selling, and maintaining aircraft, aircraft parts, missiles, rockets, and/or spacecraft. Having a just that some of the aircraft produced by that manufacturer are still flying.

This is a list of aircraft manufacturers sorted alphabetically by International Civil Aviation Organization common name. It contains the ICAO/common name, manufacturers name country and other data, with the known years of operation in parenthesis. The ICAO names are listed in bold.

An aviation accident is roughly defined in the Convention on International as an occurrence associated with the operation of an aircraft which takes place between the time any person boards the aircraft with the intention of flight and all such persons have disembarked, in which a person is fatally or seriously injured inaccessible.

An aviation incident is also defined there as an occurrence other than an accident, associated with the operation of an aircraft, which affects or could affect the safety of operations. An accident in which the damage to the aircraft is such that it must be written off, or in which the plane is destroyed is called a hull loss incident.

Reservation in India

Reservation in Indian law is a form of affirmative action whereby a percentage of seats are reserved in the public sector units, union and state civil services, union and state government departments and in all public and private educational institutions, except in the religious/ linguistic minority educational institutions,

The reservation policy is also extended for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for representation in the Parliament of India. The underlying theory is that the under-representation of the identifiable groups is a legacy of the Indian caste system.

Reservations are intended to increase the social diversity in campuses and workplaces by lowering the entry criteria for certain identifiable private educational institutions, private educational institutions, under-represented in proportion to their numbers in the general population groups.

Reservation for the socially and educationally backward communities and the Scheduled Castes and Tribes who are inadequately private educational institutions, represented in these services private educational institutions, and institutions. Caste is the most used criteria to identify under-represented groups.

Queuing delay

In telecommunication and computer engineering, the queuing delay is the time a job waits in a queue until it can be executed. It is a key component of network delay. This term is most often used in reference to routers. When packets arrive at a router, they have to be processed and transmitted.

A router can only process one packet at a time. If packets arrive faster than the router can process them such as in a burst transmission the router puts them into the queue also called the buffer until it can get around to transmitting them. . Many protocols, such as TCP, back their sending and wait for the network to clear up.

The maximum queuing delay is proportional to buffer size. The longer the line of packets waiting to be transmitted, the longer the average waiting time is. However, this is much preferable to a shorter buffer, which would result in ignored packets, which in turn would result in much longer overall transmission times.

During network congestion, queuing delays can be considered infinite when the packet is dropped. The retransmission of such packets causes significant overall delay because all forms of delay will be incurred more than once. If the network congestion continues, the packet may be dropped many times.

Energy Careers

One can make a significant difference in our lives every day with an exciting career in energy. And as the world uses more energy there are more career opportunities in the electricand renewable energy fields than ever. On-the-job training is provided for many well-paying positions, regardless of having a college degree.

Jobs within the industry include careers at full-service utility companies, electric generation companies, and operating companies. In addition, there are related employers including fuel mining, fabrication and enrichment companies, as well as architectural, and construction firms that contribute to the design and development of power plants.

There are also research positions available through organizations such as the U.S. Department of Energy. There is already a shortage of energy personnel and, therefore, there is greater job security in the field. Many people are not aware of the benefits of working in this field and so these jobs are often overlooked.

One can begin working in this industry directly after high school since it provides a wide range of job levels. None of these jobs will be outsourced since the U.S. government considers the energy industry to be a critical asset. It is a great benefit to be able to have a company assist in paying for continued education.

Job creep

Job creep is when a person’s job starts extending into that persons leisure time. An example of job creep is someone doing work at home after working hours are over, during weekends or when on vacation. This phenomenon is often aggravated by new technologies like cell phones, smart phones and the internet.

A job is a regular activity performed in exchange for payment, usually as one's occupation. A person usually begins a job by becoming an employee, volunteering, or starting a business. If a person is trained for a certain type of job, they may have a profession. The series of jobs a person holds in their life is their career.

Getting a first job is an important rite of passage in many cultures. Youth may start by doing household work, odd jobs, or working for a family business. In many countries, school children get summer jobs during their longer vacation period. Students enrolled in higher education can apply for internships.

Resumes are used to summarize information about a person in order to interest potential employers and get a job interview. Industrialization involves machines taking on a role in producing goods without direct operation by a person.

Remote Job Entry

Remote job entry is the term used to describe this process of sending files and printing reports at high speeds on Mainframe computers from remote workstations. An RJE workstation operator has complete console control of the job flow between the workstation and mainframe.

The RJE workstation is called a remote because it usually is located some distance from the host computer. The workstation connects to the host through a modem or local area network. When you send jobs from the remote workstation to the host computer, the process is called remote job entry.

Faster modems are used by Internet users every day, notably cable modems and ADSL modems. In telecommunications, wide band command-and-control centers radio modems transmit repeating frames of data at very high data rates over microwave radio links.

Modems grew out of the need to connect teletype machines over ordinary phone lines instead of more expensive leased lines which had previously been command-and-control centers used for current loop-based Teleprompters and automated telegraphs.

Printer

In computing, a printer is a peripheral which produces a hard copy permanent human-readable text and/or graphics of documents stored in electronic form, usually on physical print media such as paper or transparencies. Banks and other clearing houses employ from these specially printed characters to function properly.

Many printers are primarily used as local peripherals, and are attached by a printer cable or, in most new printers, a USB cable to a computer which serves as a document source. Printers are designed for low-volume, short-turnaround print jobs; requiring virtually no setup time to achieve a hard copy of a given document.

The printing press naturally remains the machine of choice for high-volume, professional publishing. However, as printers have improved in quality and performance, many jobs which used to be done by professional print shops are now done by users on local printers; see desktop publishing.

Some printers, commonly known as network printers, have built-in network interfaces typically wireless or Ethernet, and can serve as a hardcopy device for any user on the network. Individual printers are often designed to support both local and network connected users at the same time.

Pizza delivery

Pizza delivery is a service in which a pizzeria delivers a pizza to a customer, usually ordered by telephone or Internet. Delivery charges are commonly applied to such purchases. Ordering pizza for delivery usually involves contacting a local pizza restaurant or chain by telephone or online.

The most common pizza box is a square cardboard box in which a pizza is packaged for take-out or pizza delivery. Pizza boxes are often emblazoned with the logo of the pizza company from which they come.
Pizza boxes are not accepted by most municipal recycling programs because food is often stuck to the box itself.

Pizzerias will often incorporate a time guarantee or a promise delivery within a predetermined period of time, perhaps specifying that late deliveries will be free of charge. The most common pizza box is a square cardboard box in which a pizza is packaged for take-out or pizza delivery.

Pizza boxes are often emblazoned with the logo of the pizza company from which they come. However, some smaller restaurants will use boxes with a generic image. Online ordering has gained popularity in countries with high Internet where most pizza chains now offer online menus and instant ordering.

Supported employment

Supported employment is a term used to describe a system of support for people with disabilities in regards to ongoing employment in integrated settings. The concept of supported employment has made it possible for individuals with moderate-to-severe levels of disabilities to become active, members of the workforce.

Supported employment provides assistance such as job coaches, job development, job retention, transportation, assistive technology, and individually tailored supervision. Supported Employment often refers to both the development of employment opportunities and on-going support for those individuals to maintain employment.

Supported employment provides assistance such as job coaches, transportation, assistive technology, specialized job training, and individually tailored supervision. The concept of supported employment has made it possible for individuals with moderate-to-severe levels of disabilities to become active, members of the workforce.

Supported employment facilitates competitive work in integrated work settings for individuals with the most severe disabilities for whom competitive employment has not traditionally occurred in order to perform their job. Supported employment provides assistance job training, and individually tailored supervision.

OS-tan

The OS-tans are an Internet phenomenon or meme that originated within the Japanese Futaba Channel.
The personifications as a whole are commonly simply called mascots or mascot characters and as such the Tan suffix itself means nothing outside its role as an honorific and its implications of cuteness.

The OS-tans are the Moe anthropomorphism/personification of several operating systems by various amateur Japanese artists. The OS-tans are typically depicted as women, with the OS-tans representative of Microsoft Windows operating systems usually depicted as sisters of varying ages.

The Japanese suffix Tan is a mispronunciation of Chan an informal, intimate, and diminutive honorific suffix for a person used for friends, family, and pets. Normal suffixes including San, Chan, and Kun are also used with OS-tans depending on the character and the speaker's preference or omitted entirely.

In this case, the mispronunciation is used intentionally to achieve the contrived cute or charming effect that is commonly associated with its use by young children and is also sometimes added to the names of non-mascot used for friends, family, characters.

Distribution center

A distribution center for a set of products is a warehouse or other specialized building, often with refrigeration or air conditioning, which is stocked with products to be re-distributed to retailers, wholesalers or a fulfillment center, directly to consumers a bulk break center.

A distribution center is a principle part, the order processing element, of the entire order fulfillment process. Distribution centers are usually thought of as being demand driven. A Distribution center can also be called a warehouse, a DC, a cross-dock facility, and a package handling center.

The name by which the distribution center is known is commonly based on the purpose of the operation. For example a retail distribution center normally distributes goods to retail stores, a commonly distributes goods directly to consumers, or no product but distributes goods to other destinations.

Distribution centers are the foundation of a supply network as they allow a single location to stock a vast number of products. Some organizations operate both retail distribution and direct-to-consumer out of a single facility sharing space, equipment, labor resources and inventory as applicable.

Occupational prestige

Occupational prestige also known as job prestige refers to the consensual nature of rating a job based on the collective belief of its worthiness. The consensual nature of rating a job based on the collective belief of its worthiness. Prestige is the measurement of the desirability of an occupation in terms of socioeconomic rewards.

Prestige reflects factual, scientific knowledge about the material rewards attached to certain occupations. However, depending on whom you ask, the definitions can change. Many equate job prestige in terms of money, while others base it on education, and a third group bases it on how much a person's job helps society.

It used to be that having a college degree automatically meant you would probably attain a prestigious job as well. Researchers argue that this is no longer the case because many more people now receive some higher education.

Also, prestige used to be based on age, wealth and education, and today a great factor in the calculation of occupational prestige is how a certain job helps humanity. People were given index cards with about or so jobs listed on them and had to rank them, while others base it on education from most to least prestigious.

Microsoft Windows

Microsoft Windows is a series of software operating systems and graphical user interfaces produced by Microsoft. Microsoft first introduced an operating environment named Windows as an add-on to MS-DOS in response to the growing interest in graphical user interfaces.

Microsoft has taken two parallel routes in its operating systems. They still ran inside the same address space, where the segmented memory provided a degree of protection, and multi-tasked cooperatively. Which allowed it to run applications larger than available memory and data segments moved in memory typically waiting for user input?

Security has been a hot topic with Windows for many years, and even Microsoft itself has been the victim of security breaches. Consumer versions of Windows were originally designed for ease-of-use on a single-user PC without a network connection, and did not have security features built in from the outset.

One route has been for the home user and the other has been for the professional IT user. The dual routes have generally led to home versions having greater multimedia support and less functionality in networking and security, and professional versions having inferior multimedia support and better networking and security.

Job Feeds

Job Feeds are a method of serving employment oriented web content via standard RSS technology. The primary benefit in using RSS technology to search for jobs is that the vacancy is delivered to your desktop or mobile device, rather than traditional web browsing. Internet Explorer has an inbuilt RSS aggregator.

Typically, the vacant positions are published as a single RSS item. The job title appears as the RSS title with a summary of the vacancy in the RSS description. Often, the RSS link hyperlinks to the vacancy's full listing together with the ability to apply online. As with standard you need a feed reader this is a tool like an email program.

It's like getting an email every time one of your subscriptions updates their content, except no email address is required. There are many feed readers some are online like a webmail account), some are offline you download the program to your computer, some are free and some aren't.

You may have come across feed readers already. If you use personalized home page services like My Yahoo! or My MSN, you have a feed how content like news, weather and stock quotes appear on your personal page. You can also add content from any site with feeds to your page to get updates.

Motorola RAZR

Motorola RAZR is a series of clamshell mobile camera phones initially introduced by Motorola . Due to their striking appearance and thin profile, it was initially marketed as including some of the branding images an exclusive fashion phone. A black version was produced for distribution and was released.

Complaints were made about dust accumulating between the plastic screen and LCD glass, possibly through an external side button. Access to the dust requires peeling off the plastic cover, usually followed by a replacement cover. This space is divided unevenly into a and c partitions.

Memory on partition a is larger than and contains system files, for the phone carrier. Partition a also contains the aver structure for the hidden Voice Records feature. The Motorola DAP does not suffer from this cap it takes considerably longer time to load and uses the battery at a much faster rate than iTunes does.

The new RAZR model comes in three almost identical models, the thinner than its predecessor but slightly wider. The original RAZR screen was widely complained about, but in this latest version it has been strengthened from scratching with a steel frame and chemically protected glass.

Electric vehicle

An electric vehicle is a vehicle with one or more electric motors for propulsion. This is also referred to as an electric drive vehicle. The motion may be provided either by wheels or propellers driven by rotary motors, by linear motors. A few experimental vehicles, such as some cars and a handful of aircraft use solar panels for electricity.

Unlike an internal combustion engine that is tuned to specifically operate with a particular fuel such as gasoline, diesel or natural gas, an electric drive vehicle needs electricity, which comes from sources such as batteries or a generator. This flexibility allows the drive train of the vehicle while the energy source can be changed.

The electricity used to propel the vehicle may be provided in many different ways; it can come from any energy source, fossil fuels, nuclear power, and renewable and can either be supplied to the vehicle continuously as it is used or stored in the vehicle in some way, such as batteries, super capacitors or fuel cells.

Electric vehicles can include electric cars, electric trains, electric motorcycles and scooters even electric spacecraft. For especially large electric vehicles, such as submarines, the chemical electric can be replaced by a nuclear reactor. The nuclear reactor usually provides heat which is then fed to the propulsion.

Diversity business

The business case for diversity, theorizes that in a global marketplace, a company that employs a diverse workforce both men and women, people of many generations, people from ethnically and racially diverse backgrounds etc that has a more limited range of employee demographics.

An additional corollary suggests that a company that supports the diversity of its workforce can also improve employee satisfaction, productivity and retention. This portion of the business case, often referred to as inclusion, relates to how an organization utilizes its various relevant diversities.

If a workforce is diverse, but the employer takes little or no advantage of that breadth of that experience, then it cannot monetize whatever benefits background diversity might offer. In most cases, US employers are prohibited by federal and state laws from giving race or ethnicity any consideration in hiring or assigning employees.

However, the US Supreme Court has upheld the use of limited preferences based on race, ethnicity, and sex, when there is a manifest imbalance in a traditionally segregated job category. Better able to understand the demographics of it serves and is thus better equipped to thrive in that marketplace than a company.

Home sourcing
